US Movie Buzz Charts – 29th January 2016

Opening this week in the US we have ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ parody Fifty Shades of Black doing well with 10,846 mentions and 1,658 Intent-To-View mentions. Also is Kung Fu Panda 3 starring Jack Black with 8,247 mentions and 565 ITV mentions, performing below its genre benchmark. Next up is Disney’s boating biographical The Finest Hours with 6,285 mentions and 278 ITV mentions, and finally Natalie Portman in Jane Got a Gun with 1,068 and 21 ITV mentions, both performing below their genre benchmark.


Going into its second week is The 5th Wave with Chloe Grace Moretz, gaining an impressive amount of buzz with 28,836 mentions and 3,291 ITV mentions. Also going its second week is Dirty Grandpa with Robert De Niro and Zac Efron, not too far behind with 23,042 mentions and 2,842 ITV mentions. Both The 5th Wave and Dirty Grandpa performed at their genre benchmark. The last film moving into its second week is The Boy with 17,287 mentions and 1,723 ITV mentions, performing below its genre benchmark. This contrasted the past two weeks in which The Boy performed far above it genre benchmark.

Finally we look forward to next week in which romantic drama The Choice opens, currently gaining 7,321 mentions and 461 ITV mentions. We also look forward to new addition to the Coen Brothers filmography; Hail, Caesar! Currently managing 2,568 mentions and 310 ITV mentions.
