FACEBOOK INTRODUCING NEW LIVE-STREAMING FEATURES FOR PAGES

Facebook has announced a host of new live-streaming features for Pages, including web broadcasts and pinned comments. One of the most notable new developments is the ability for Pages to air live-streams through the desktop web. Facebook is also rolling out new features to help encourage user viewership and interaction with live-streaming – when a Page is broadcasting live, the stream will appear atop the Page’s video library.

SNAPCHAT LAUNCHES NEW SEARCH FEATURE

Snapchat users can now search the app to find friends, groups, Discover publishers and Stories, using the new universal search bar pinned to the top of the app. The feature has been designed with convenience and speed in mind, making it easier and faster for users to navigate the app. Brands and influencers are included in those who could benefit most from the improved search function.

MORE ADS BEING BROUGHT TO FACEBOOK VIDEOS

Industry sources have claimed that Facebook will soon be testing mid-roll ads, which would give video producers an extra, optional source of revenue. The move would potentially provide further incentive for content creators to consider shifting more from platforms like YouTube. The ads can appear after 20 seconds in videos, lasting a minimum of 90 seconds.

INSTAGRAM STORIES TO FEATURE ADS

Now with 150 million Stories users, Instagram will be integrating full-screen ads within its Stories feature, initially testing with major clients such as Netflix, Nike and AirBnb. Depending on how the venture pans out, Instagram expects the initiative to expand to other businesses soon. In a wise move, the ads won’t show up until users have watched several Stories in sequence, as the ads are snuck in between two friends’ Stories.
