WHATSAPP DEVELOPS FILE SHARING FEATURES

Along with the recent ‘Stories-style Statuses’, video calls and added support for photo filters and albums, there is yet another exciting Whatsapp update in store for iOS and Android users. After a month of testing users can now send any kind of file to your Whatsapp contacts, giving you access to snap chat videos and pictures, MP3 files and whatever else you wish to share. Additionally, you will be able to select photos and videos straight from the camera screen, making it quick and easy to send files over via the app.

GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC MAKES IT EASIER TO FIND NEW RELEASES

A feature that has previously been tested with Samsung users is now being used by Google, who have just updated Google Play to enable users to listen to the latest music quickly and easily. This feature is called ‘New Release Radio’, which selects singles and album releases from the past two weeks based on your music history to create a playlist tailored to your particular music tastes.

ALL NEW DATING APP ‘BADOO’ HELPS YOU FIND CELEBRITY LOOKALIKE

The online dating app Badoo has an interesting new feature attempting to set them apart from the rest. This feature enables you to search for dates based on how closely they resemble your preferred celebrities, judging people not just on looks, but also personality traits. Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and even Donald Trump have come up as some of the most searched celebrities on the app. If you do not wish to use this feature however, you can easily opt out of the facial recognition results.

GOOGLE MAPS UPDATE SHARES THE BEST TIMES TO TRAVEL

Google has just added a new feature to Google Maps, telling users when is the best time to leave to get to your destination (via Android police). The way this information will be displayed is through a bar graph that will pop up after you input your journey details into the app. The graph will then show you an estimate of how long the journey will take, dividing each bar in to hourly time slots, as well as highlighting them in either red, yellow or green depending on current traffic conditions. At the moment this update is only available for Android map users, but this could change if the update proves popular, so watch this space!

TWITTER ENABLES USERS TO MUTE NOTIFICATIONS

In an attempt to reduce abusive messages and general harassment online, Twitter has announced new advanced filters that enable you to turn off notifications from accounts that do not have a profile photo, a confirmed email address/phone number or those you do not follow. To set the filters you simply go to your Notifications, click on Settings and choose your preferred filters. For iOS and Android it is the same process, you just go to the Notifications timeline under the gear icon.
