Who are the faces behind the campaigns? Find out with the latest in our Meet WTB series: Senior Account Executive Jose A. Madariaga, who’s based out of our Madrid office.
Could you tell us a bit about your career journey that brought you to WTB?
The day after I graduated (giving myself very little time to celebrate!) I joined my regional government as a political correspondent. After that, I found myself in Madrid where I joined a Financial Services Consultancy, building and managing both external and internal communications systems. Despite enjoying the feeling of being an “architect” of sorts, I realised that perhaps the financial world wasn’t for me.
I had a theory that it would be more exciting to work in an area that’s closer to my interests, and that’s how I ended up working at Way To Blue. It’s been 8 years now, and I still love film, so I guess my theory worked!
What has been your proudest moment at WTB?
Seeing my social copy go viral and gain national press coverage. Seeing a tweet I wrote on news headlines in Spain could be one of those happy moments… but I definitely choose my Tom Jones performance at the WTB French Xmas Karaoke!
The best piece of career advice you’ve been given?
“If you only do what you can do, you will never be more than you are”. It’s funny – I heard this one in KUNG FU PANDA 3!
What do you think 2016 holds for the industry?
I’m sure 2016 will consolidate the Mobile Era and we’ll continue seeing tons of technological surprises that we’d never have thought possible just a few years ago. Astounding developments such as Virtual Reality, impressive mobile functionalities, new social media ad formats like Canvas, Twitter First View, Instagram Marquee, Conversational formats… It’s going to be key to stay on top of all the new trends!
Describe your role at WTB in 3 words.
Social + Media + Management (not just together, but separately too).
Who would play you in the movie of your life?
I hope producers choose ME! I’ve been working hard for years to nail it :)
