We’ve identified the biggest winners on social – divided by award category – as well as what caused the most social discussion, including exactly how social reacted to host, Chris Rock.

Full findings can be found in the below infographic, but here are some of the key stats:

  • Despite Spotlight bagging the top award for Best Picture, they only reached third in social conversation, with just over 181K mentions, whilst The Revenant reached the heady heights of the top, with a whopping 581K mentions, followed closely by Mad Max: Fury Road at 567K mentions
  • Social conversation was dominated by Chris Rock’s handling of the #OscarsSoWhite controversy, with an overwhelming 85% of Chris Rock-buzz either positive or implied positive – viewers expressed their praise and support of Chris
  • With this in mind, there were over 205K mentions of the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite, making it the big conversation of the night
